Newport Shropshire & the local area

Sambrook is a small picturesque village inbetween the historic market towns of Newport & Market Drayton on the border of Shropshire & Staffordshire and very close to Edgmond and the renown Harper Adams Agricultural College,  and Lilleshall national sports centre. 

Telford is our closest big town (15 mins) and boasts an array of activities including indoor shopping centre, ice rink, bowling alley, multi screen cinema, Telford town park and Horsehay golf club, another 5 mins down the road is the heritage site of Ironbridge, once the centre of the industrial world and now a beautiful town with a variety of local history museums and of course the world famous Ironbridge.  Shrewsbury, the Royal Air force museum at Cosford and Hawkstone Park & follies are aprox. 30 minutes drive and great days out. On the Staffordshire side Stafford has a castle, churches and the ancient high house as well as a tempting blend of specialist shops and high street names.  At Shugborough you can experience life on a working historic estate and Cannock Chase provides walking, cycling, and horse riding opportunities.  Stoke-On-Trent or the 'Potteries' as it is better known is home to many famous names such as Wedgwood, Spode & Moorcroft.

We have a good selection of National Trust properties in our area as well as local fishing, horse riding, golf, walking & cycle routes. 

There is a fantastic choice of restaurants in Newport & the local area which cater for every taste.  If you are lucky enough to be staying in one of our self-catering holiday cottages or in the farmhouse Bed & Breakfast during a snowy time then sledges are on hand for you to have lots of fun & exersise! before retiring back to your warm cosy accomodation or if you are really hungry then the Three Horse shoes serves lovely meals at very reasonable prices and is in walking distance from Sambrook Manor B&B and Self Catering holiday cottages.
